Kate Dovgalyuk began studying the viola at the age of 10. Kate received her Bachelor of Music degree in music education from George Mason University, where she studied under Ramon Scavelli, violist of the National Symphony Orchestra. Since graduating, she has performed with many orchestras and chamber ensembles and served as the principal violist for the Piedmont Symphony Orchestra. Kate was an orchestra director at several elementary schools in Fairfax County, as well as a director of the Fairfax Area Orchestra. Kate is currently a freelance violist in the Lynchburg area, a substitute violist with the Lynchburg Symphony Orchestra, and teaches violin and viola privately. Kate currently resides in Forest, VA with her husband and two children.
