Dress Code

FEMALE BALLET/POINTE STUDENTS 

All girls/women in our ballet classes should wear ballet pink or white tights, pink ballet slippers, and a modest leotard. Shirts/tank tops, shorts, sweats, leggings, long skirts, and jewelry are NOT permitted. 

Children’s Division

PRE-PRIMARY: Light pink leotard

PRIMARY: Lilac leotard

LEVEL 1: Mulberry leotard

LEVEL 2: Light blue leotard

LEVEL 3: Purple leotard

These levels are also permitted to wear any style of short skirt or tutu, but it must be at least two inches above the knee.

Pre-Professional Division

LEVEL 4: Royal blue leotard

LEVEL 5: Maroon leotard 

LEVEL 6: Black leotard

Students in these levels are ONLY permitted to wear a short wrap or pull-on dance skirt.

All female students must have their hair SECURED in a ballet bun, not a loosely tied knot or ponytail. Not only is this the professional standard in ballet, but having your hair down makes it difficult for teachers to see your neck and shoulder alignment and negatively impacts turns.

MALE BALLET STUDENTS

CHILDREN’S DIV: White t-shirt or tank, black shorts or jazz pants, black ballet slippers (white socks optional).

PRE-PROFESSIONAL DIV: White t-shirt or tank, black dance leggings or jazz pants, black ballet slippers.

DANCE ELECTIVES  

TAP /JAZZ/MUSIC THEATRE DANCE

Dance attire and black tap or jazz shoes. All girls/women must wear a leotard, even if they are wearing a t-shirt. 

LYRICAL/CONTEMPORARY/MODERN

Any color leotard, tights, nude color dance paws. Skirts and dance shorts are acceptable. NO t-shirts.

THEATRE & MUSIC

THEATRE

Theatre students will need to wear modest, comfortable clothes and shoes that they can move in. For performances, they will need solid black clothing (no shorts) and black shoes.

MUSIC

Music students will need to wear modest, comfortable clothes. They may need solid black or black and white clothing/shoes for some performances.
